Worker Retraining
Program Overview
Worker Retraining is a state-funded program that provides job-related training and employment services to dislocated, vulnerable, and unemployed workers to help them gain additional training in their field or to get started on a new career.
If you are interested in a qualifying degree or certificate program and want to see if you are eligible for Worker Retraining at Wenatchee Valley College, please fill out our Interest Survey and one of our staff members will contact you.
In order to be eligible for Worker Retraining, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- You are currently receiving unemployment benefits or have received a layoff notice.
- You previously received unemployment benefits, but had to take a temporary job to get by and are currently underemployed.
- You have exhausted a claim for unemployment benefits within the past four years.
- You are formerly self-employed and currently unemployed due to general economic conditions.
- You are an unemployed or underemployed veteran discharged within the past four years.
- You are unemployed or underemployed after having been dependent on another family member’s income, but you are no longer supported by that income due to separation, divorce, death, or permanent disability of the main wage-earner.
- You are a vulnerable worker (at risk of losing your job) who meets two of the following
three requirements:
- Your job is not in demand. (See the Local Area Demand/Decline Occupations list.)
- You do not have 45 college credits.
- You must upgrade your skills to remain employed in your current job.

- Pharmacy Technician
- Radiologic Technology
- Welding and Fabrication
- Financial assistance for tuition, fees, books, childcare, and/or training completion.
- Assistance with navigating college processes and services.
- Help with locating additional funding for training.
- Referrals to other agencies, programs and sources of funding.
- Assistance with forms such as Employment Security Commissioner Approved Training (CAT) and Training Benefits (TB) applications.
