MLT Admission

What are the First-Year courses (prerequisites)?

Where can the program be completed?
The MLT program is offered on both of the Wenatchee Valley College campuses: Wenatchee and Omak.  It is also offered in additional locations like Walla Walla, and Pendleton, Oregon, visit the Regional Sites page for more information.  During the application process you will select your desired location.

How are transfer credits evaluated?
If you have transfer credits, it is recommended that you have your credits evaluated by requesting an official Credit Evaluation (PDF).  You can also use the Equivalency Chart (PDF) as a guide.

When are applications accepted?
The program starts every summer quarter and takes 1 year (5 quarters) to complete. The next application window will be February 15 - April 8, 2024.

What are the application requirements?
You must be 18 by the first day of the program to apply.  You must also (a) have met all general requirements by the application deadline and (b) be on track to complete all First-Year coursework (PDF) by the first day of the program in order apply.  Once those requirements are met, complete all the steps below.

  • Read the application instructions and requirements below.
    • You must have a current WVC application on file.
      • Current WVC students do not need to reapply, students that have not attended for one or more quarters will need to update their information.
      • Students that are new to WVC can apply here.
      • If you are updating your information or applying for the first time, select summer quarter 2023 for your starting quarter.
    • You must send up-to-date official college transcripts from all colleges (excluding WVC) where you have earned credit directly to Wenatchee Valley College.
      • If you have entire transcripts that are over 10 years old, contact the Allied Health Educational Planner to determine whether the old transcripts need to be submitted (509.682.6830).
      • If you took winter classes at another school and your winter grades will not be posted on your official transcript by the last day applications are accepted, attach an unofficial transcript showing your winter grades (this is in addition to the official transcript showing all classes up until winter).
    • Late applications will not be accepted.
    • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Complete the MLT Application
  • You will be notified in late-April or early-May regarding your application status.


How are applications evaluated?

Selection of students for the Wenatchee and Omak sites is based on grades.  Specifically, the program considers:

  • Your cumulative college GPA
  • Your average grade from BIOL& 241, BIOL& 242, and BIOL& 260 (or equivalent)
    • Repetition of these courses may affect your acceptance
  • Your grade from ENGL& 101 (or equivalent)

Selection of students for other sites is based on grades, but interviews may also be considered.

What do I need to complete if I am accepted to the program?
All applicants will be notified about one month after the application closes.  If you are accepted to the program, you must complete all the requirements detailed on this page (PDF) as well as all items listed in the acceptance packet.  You should also be prepared to pay a $50, non-refundable, acceptance fee.

What else should I know before applying to the MLT program?

  • Acceptance to WVC does not guarantee acceptance to the MLT program.
  • If you leave the program for any reason, contact the program director to discuss your re-entry options (509.682.6678).
  • On-the-job physical requirements include the ability to lift 50 pounds, carry 20 pounds, sit for 4 hours, and stand for 8-12 hours.
  • Conviction of certain crimes may prevent completion of the clinical requirements of the program and may prevent future licensure and employment in health care.  A criminal record check is required to be allowed any clinical training experience or clinical field trips. If you have a criminal record, contact the Allied Health Department at 509.682.6660 or ibarragan@wvc.edu to determine if your criminal history would prevent access to a health care facility.
