Alumni Spotlight: Abdiel "AJ" Figuero ‘23
Abdiel "AJ" Figueroa ’23 began his education journey at Wenatchee Valley College as a Running Start student. He found that WVC’s local connections and hands-on opportunities were the perfect match for his educational dreams, giving him the best jumpstart for his career goals. AJ reflects, “WVC is a great local community college that gives you the education and experience in the Wenatchee area to prepare you for the world ahead.”
His fondest memories were made in study sessions at the college library with his friends, balancing notes and laughs, while building lasting memories and connections that made learning feel exciting. “There was this energy,” he says, “Just being able to have the resources available, as well as the other classmates and friends at my side, really made my college experience pleasurable.”
After earning his associates of arts and science from WVC in 2023, AJ continues his educational path forward as he works towards a bachelor's in accounting through Washington State University’s online campus. During the day, he works as a Customer Service Representative at Wheatland Bank in Wenatchee, where he gets to help local folks, all while building skills he hopes to use someday in financial advising.
Looking back, AJ shares one piece of advice for current and incoming WVC students: “Embrace everything—your classes, professors, and the people around you. WVC will give you the tools to reach new heights and help you tap into your potential.”
