Alumni Spotlight: Bryan Lopez '19

Bryan Lopez

As a first-time college student, Bryan Lopez knew he needed a place where he could focus, feel supported, and stay connected to his goals.

Bryan remembers the calm and welcoming atmosphere at Wenatchee Valley College that helped him thrive, especially during the challenging moments of the rigorous nursing program. Some of his fondest memories come from working alongside classmates who shared his dream of entering the healthcare field. Together, they supported one another, celebrated milestones, and pushed through the hard days.

After earning his Associate Degree in Nursing in 2019, Bryan quickly stepped into a career where he makes a real impact every day. He now works as a registered nurse at Central Washington Hospital, serving on the Progressive Care Unit. Bryan’s skills have also earned him cross-training opportunities in the Intensive Care Unit and the responsibility of acting as a charge nurse when needed.

“The classes and professors at WVC were top quality,” Bryan shares. “The education I received set me up for success and prepared me to take on the real-world challenges that come with nursing.”

But Bryan’s journey wasn’t just shaped inside the classroom. He credits the WVC counselors for playing a crucial role in his success, helping him map out his academic path and stay focused when things felt overwhelming.

His advice to current WVC students is to keep working toward your goals, stay determined, and do not be afraid to reach out for help. “The support is there if you ask for it. WVC helped guide me to where I am today—making a difference in my community through my work.”
